How to Update the Firmware on the Nexx Gate WiFi Receiver

Overview

In this article you will learn how to update the firmware on your Nexx Gate WiFi Receiver. The Nexx app will generally prompt you if there is a firmware update available for you device. The firmware can only be updated by the Nexx account the device was originally set up with. You may also toggle auto updates so the app updates the firmware on its own when an update is available.
This process can take several minutes to complete, the app will prompt you once the update is complete. Ensure the Nexx Gate and the gate opener do not lose power during this time.

Procedure

Open Device Settings


Open Device Info

If you don't see this option in your app, your account isn't the main user. Only the account that originally set the Nexx Gate up can update firmware.

Update the firmware

Select either option to update the firmware. You must remain near the Nexx Gate and have Bluetooth turned on if "Local Update" is selected. This can take several minutes.



Update Complete

Sometimes the update can fail as shown in the image below. If this happens, close the error message and try the firmware update again.



If the firmware update completes successfully, you will receive a message stating so.


Testing the App

Sometimes updating the Nexx Gate's firmware can result in the app no longer operating the gate. Running the gate open and back closed should restore operation.
  1. Attempt to operate the gate from the Nexx app.
    1. If the gate operates, no further action is required.
    2. If the Nexx Gate beeps 3 times but the gate does not operate, proceed to the next steps.
  2. Run the gate open using a remote or the open/close button on the main control board.
    1. Refresh the Nexx app, it should show the gate is open.
  3. Run the gate closed using a remote or the open/close button on the main control board.
    1. Refresh the Nexx app again, it should now show the gate is closed.
  4. Attempt to operate the gate from the Nexx app.
