How to Reset the Master Password Back to Default on a Basic Wireless Keypad

Overview

In this article you will learn how to reset the master password on a basic wireless keypad. This is done when the keypad's functions need to be changed but the master password is unknown. The master password will be reset to the default of "11111". The "PUK" code will be needed from the back of the keypad for this process. An example of this process will be provided at the end of the article.

Applies to Part Number(s)

  1. 050500

What You Need

  1. A small Phillips head screwdriver

Procedure

Remove the Keypad From its Back Plate

The keypad is held into the back plate with 2 Phillips screws located underneath the bottom corners.
  1. Remove the 2 Phillip's screws from the bottom of the keypad.
  2. Remove the keypad by lifting it up and away from the back plate.

Identify the PUK Code

The PUK code will be on a white sticker on the back of the keypad itself. Make a note of this code.

Enter "11111" Then Press 8

The keypad will give a long beep at this step. This long beep usually signifies an error, but in this case is expected. If you hear 2 short beeps at this point, the master password is "11111" and you don't need to reset it.

Enter the PUK Code Then Press 8

Re-Enter the PUK Code Then Press 8

The keypad will give two short beeps indicating the master password has been reset back to "11111". Confirm the master password was reset by typing in "11111" followed by 9, you should hear two short beeps.

Reinstall the Keypad

  1. Set the keypad back onto the back plate.
  2. Reinstall the 2 Phillips head screws.

Example

The PUK code in this example will be "44511".
After each key press you must move quickly to the next. If you wait too long before the next key press, the keypad will exit programming mode and you will need to start over. We recommend writing down the example below using your own values before beginning the process. This will help you do the process quickly, ensuring the keypad doesn't time out and exit programming.
